Send group messages

Contact all or some of your users in a single send: internal messaging, e-mail, and push notifications, with detailed read tracking.

Compose and send a group message

  1. Go to AdministrationUsersUser Management.
  2. Filter the list to target your recipients: profile, subscription, group, or any other filter.
  3. Select the users you want, or use Select All to include the entire filtered list.
  4. Open the Actions menu. Click Send a Message.
  5. Enter the subject and content. Choose the sending channels. Click Send.

The New Message button on the AdministrationUsersGroup Messages page takes you to this same selection. The user list is the starting point for every group send.

Personalize the message for each recipient

The Merge Fields button inserts variables into the subject or content: last name, first name, username, e-mail address, subscription, access code, and more. Each recipient receives a personalized message with their own data.

The Template field lets you start from a message that has already been sent. You can also open an old message. Click Duplicate to send it again as is or adapt it.

Choose the sending channels

In the Type of Delivery area, the message is always sent to the internal messaging system. You can add:

  • By e-mail: an e-mail is sent to recipients who have provided an address, and who have not disabled e-mails.
  • Push Notifications: a notification is sent to the devices where the user has enabled notifications.

The Disable Responses option prevents recipients from replying from the messaging system. This is useful for purely informational announcements.

Track reads and deliverability

  1. Go to AdministrationUsersGroup Messages. All sent group messages are listed there.
  2. Open a message. The Overview tab shows the content that was sent. The recipients tab details the delivery for each recipient.
  3. For each recipient, you can see whether the message was read in the messaging system and the e-mail status: Delivered, Open, Clicked, Failure, or SPAM.

The View the full report link opens AdministrationDashboardEmail Log filtered for this send, with the open rate and details of any errors.

Limit the risk of being marked as spam

  • Write a short, clear subject, without excessive capitalization or repeated punctuation.
  • Prefer mostly text-based content. Avoid messages made up of one large image.
  • Space out mass sends and use filters to target only the recipients who are actually concerned.
  • Invite your users to add the sender address to their contacts and to check their spam folder.
